Looks like abortion rights will eventually be severely restricted or eliminated because of likely changes on the Supreme Court of the United States.

Our present President is against abortion and it is highly likely that he will seek to appoint judges that will most likely restrict or eliminate abortion rights.

It seems likely that President Bush will have the opportunity to appoint at least two (and possibly more) Supreme Court justices.

Women will be forced back into the dark allies where quacks and other butchers can mangle their vaginas and possibly kill them.

Things will not be as bad as in the past. More women will be able to go to Canada or Mexico to have the abortion procedure done. Some states (‘blue states’) will probably still allow abortions if the Supreme Court does not usurp this right. There are also new and improved abortion inducing drugs not approved for US distribution yet by the FDA but will probably become available on the black market in the US if the court restricts or eliminates abortion rights (of course this will still put at risk the lives of thousands of young women).

It is a shame that women in the twenty first century will loose the right to control their bodies. It is a shame that the courts will insert itself into the reproductive health of women by demanding that they have a child even if they feel unprepared or unable for whatever reason to give the time, love and care that a child needs.

Gay Marriage Setback: Now somewhere in one of the blog entries at this site I stated that gays should not seek marriage rights and that it was best that they only seek some ‘civil union’ rights so that they would not anger many Americans.

Of course throughout the last months they did not take this advise and did the exact opposite. When Bush finishes appointing his choices for justices on the Supreme Court you can count out gay marriage for at least the next forty to sixty years. Now that is a high price to pay for being impatient.

Irrational apocalyptic nonsense. Get a grip.

I don't make irrational, apocalyptic statements and no the sky is not falling but ignorance is rising as Dr. Guy and Daiwa demonstrate.

isnt an 'activist judge' one who acts to change the law on the basis of what he believes?

Well, i don't think Averjoe is too far out there on this one.

The right has made their intentions clear on what they plan to do on Roe v Wade, with the gay marrige ban passing in all 11 states that voted on it, and bush 2.1 (yeah he got an upgrade...) stating his intent to push for a constitutional amendment outlawing gay marrige, why it is so crazy for joe to state the fairly obvious? Are you saying that the current administration isn't looking to stack the court with conservatives?

C'mon folks. Don't pretend this isn't on the agenda. Because that's the real irrationality in this thread.

Heh heh you said "vagina" then you said "bondage", that was cool... heh heh

Anyways, I think abortion is wrong unless it is to get rid of a pregnancy caused by rape, incest, or will cause the mother to die. All other women just need to stop being whores.

As for gay marriage, I don't think they should be afforded any special privelieges just because they like it in the "out" hole. I mean are you going to start giving special rights to people who like S&M.
