I’ve been blogging for over a year at one site or another and have noticed several things. Blogs are not always (this applies to websites in general) available throughout the world or even throughout the United States. There have been instances where my blog would be viewable in one state but not another (strange). Of course throughout the world governments are using various screening techniques like they are trying to do in China. Unfortunately this behavior is not only being used by the communist Chinese or other despotic governments.

It is being used by so called free societies too. Web search engines are engaging in the process of filtering content that comes up in their search engines (web portals also). ISPs are blocking the availability of content on the web also. It will be unfortunate if Corporations, governments, and ISPs, start engaging in wholesale screening of websites, denying access to some of the worldwide webs content. Lets hope the free flow and availability of information remains the rule and not the exception on the internet.

I think I am going to take a look at SuSe Linux. The SuSe flavor is now being pushed by Leo Laporte of the techtv show The Screen Savers and I do tend to listen to many of his suggestions. I am not saying that I’m going to give up on Debian but I must check out a product that I am interested in and that is recommended by a show I like.

I talk a lot about The Screen Savers. Presently I tend to pay the most attention to the suggestions by the Dark Tipper mainly because his stuff deals with networks, network security and Linux. These are areas that at present the Dark Tipper possess more knowledge than I do, but eventually this will change as my knowledge in Linux and networking increases. I look foreword to the day when I just watch The Screen Savers to see the latest products, new software or news about technology.
