It has been a long time since my last entry to this blog but there really have been a lot of demands on my time and when there weren’t demands on my time I didn’t feel like writing.

A lot has happened since my last posting and some of these things I will eventually write about and post to this blog or another blog.

That reminds me that I still may drop one of the sites I blog on. I presently post on two sites. I am thinking about only using one site.

The topics that I feel are ‘heavy’ and the topics I feel are more ‘light’ may eventually be on one blog. Besides, sometime things I blog about could fit into either of these categories.

Yes, these postings will fit into the usual two categories I use most on this blog site and the categories I post to most on this sight are entertainment and personal computing.

Anticipation: Well the first ‘must see’ movie of this year for me is the final entry in the Star Wars series of films.

I am a sci-fi fan (my favorite genre of film) although I am not crazy over the Star Wars films (I think my favorite in this series was ‘The Empire Strikes Back’). I think the first Star Wars movie had groundbreaking special effects for a science fiction film so it will remain a ‘must see’ for all science fiction film fans.

I posted a blog about my favorite science fiction films that I feel are mandatory for all science fiction lovers to see. Here is what I said (or something like it) in that blog entry:

In my view every Sci-Fi fan or person who is interested in Sci-Fi should see some of the movies on my Sci-Fi classics list. These are not necessarily movies that are considered classics by so call professional critics but they are ‘must see’ in my opinion. See if you agree. ‘The Thing (or The Thing From Another World)’(1951), ‘The Blob’ (1958), ‘The Body Snatchers’ (1956), ‘The War Of The Worlds’ (1953), ‘Forbidden Planet’ (1956), ‘Logan’s Run’ (1976), ‘Planet Of The Apes’ (1968), ‘Alien’ (1979), ‘Aliens’ (1986), ‘Starship Troopers’ (1997), ‘Independence Day’ (1996), ‘Village Of The Damned’ (1960), ‘AI: Artificial Intelligence ‘(2001), ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ (1968) ‘Star Wars’ (1977), ‘Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan’ (1982) (all Sci-Fi fans should take a look at many of the episodes of the Star Trek television franchise in all its manifestations), ‘The Terminator’ (1984), ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’ (1991), ‘Pitch Black’(2000) ‘The Abyss’(1989), ‘The Andromeda Strain’ (1971), Deep Impact (1998), The Last Starfighter (1984), and ‘The Matrix’ (1999).

Many will think the older titles are corny or the special effects are ‘cheesy’ but you must pay attention to the story (and other things) and how well it unfolds to really judge these movies and not just the special effects. Many of these movies have been remade so maybe you should see one of the more current versions (A new ‘War Of The Worlds’ is coming out).

Many of these films were made before I was born and to tell you the truth the special effects do look cheap but the movies are still enjoyable.

If you don’t like at least one of the above-mentioned films then you are probably not a science fiction fan.

Music Played During The Writing Of This Entry: ‘Move This’ by Technotronic, ‘Money Changes Everything’ by Cyndi Lauper, ‘Little Red Rooster’ by Sam Cooke, ‘Return To Innocence’ and ‘Principles Of Lust’ (all movements) by Enigma and ‘Moments In Love’ by Art Of Noise.

To All Mothers In The USA........HAPPY MOTHERS DAY.

I like most of the films you named.

Were you aware that the ones in the fifties were made because of the Cold War? The fear of being taken over by aliens was a metaphor for the fear of being taken over by Communism.

Do you like Sci-Fi art, such as Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo, etc.?

Yes I was aware that many science fiction movies of that era indirectly commented on the state of the world at that time. I'm not so much into sci-fi art. I am much more into story and vision of director. Science fiction can model so many 'worlds' or possible realities and that is one of the things that attracts me to the genre.

Have you seen the remake of Village of the Damned? Did you just forget to list 2010?

Yes I did see the remake of Village of the Damned starring the late Christopher Reeve. I did not like it as much as the first version. This is an instance of the British doing it better. I have watched 2010 but it is not a movie I would give a B or A grade but it is okay and gets a nice C+ (I grade the films I see).
