Jews did kill Jesus

The Jews killed Christ. No, this is not just my opinion. It is the story told in the New Testament of the Bible. The Jewish priest leadership and other Jewish leaders were angry and alarmed at this upstart Jesus coming around and proclaiming that he was the savior they were all waiting for.

They were alarmed because this heretic was also developing a following that attributed all sorts of miracles to Jesus. Jewish priest and leaders felt threatened by this self appointed savior who threatened long held traditions, and values and their positions within the small sect of people that called themselves Jews. These people viewed themselves as the chosen people of an all powerful, all knowing god.

The jewish leaders thought, ‘would you look at this. Where does this guy get off calling himself the savior’? Most of the reported miracles were not really that impressive anyway although raising the dead was a good one (although maybe he was in a zombie state or it was a magicians trick thought many).

The Jewish leaders appealed to the Roman officials and branded Jesus a rabble-rouser that could threaten the stability of the Roman empire (not saying that the Roman officials brought into this view). In this way according to the Bible the Jews did have Jesus (also a Jew) killed.

I bring this subject up because it is in the news. Never has so much noise been made about a film in a long time. I guess Mel Gibson can expect good sells on opening week. Word of mouth and the opinions of the movie critics will determine how well sells overall are.

Who killed Jesus is not really that important as far as the overall Bible narrative is concerned. The point is that Jesus died for the sins of all mankind. His half human essence and half god essence made him able to serve the role of sacrificial lamb. He fulfilled his destiny as preordained by the Father (part of god that makes up the Trinity of God according to some Christian denominations-not all Christians believe in a Trinity).

There are a lot of criticisms I can raise about Gibson’s movie based only on the clips I have seen of the film from the physical characteristics of the people portrayed to the use of a cross. Some historians argue that Jesus was more likely nailed to a spike like wood structure. Hands were nailed one on top of the other with arms over his head instead of arms spread out across a cross structure.

The Jews did NOT kill Jesus. This is not just my opinion. As a young Jewish girl I take offense to the fact that people insist on saying this over and over and over.

The reason that the JEWS didn't kill Jesus was because they did not have the political authority to do so. The Romans were the only one's able to do this. Caesar or whoever the hell it was decided to be a puss and give up his power. When was the last time that you gave up your authority because a bunch of people were being a bunch of whiners.

Conclusion: The Romans killed Jesus not the Jews. Oh, and I do believe in Jesus as the savior also. Even though I am Jewish.

The Romans acted at the behest of the Jews. The Roman authorities did not see Jesus or the Jews as a threat. They were small groups of no significance to Rome or Roman authority.

The New Testement does say that the Jews killed Jesus. Why is this so offensive? Germans killed the Jews. I'm a German, does that mean I deny it because it's offensive??? The truth is we all killed Jesus. Every single one of us killed Him. We've all sinned and it had to happen this way so that we wouldn't be seperated from Christ and God forever.

BigDreamer - thats the truth.

Averjoe - If I am misenterpreting what you are saying, then please tell me, it won't be a first that's for sure. But not even for the sake of debating, I have to make a few suggestions.

Most of the reported miracles were not really that impressive anyway although raising the dead was a good one (although maybe he was in a zombie state or it was a magicians trick thought many).

So how many paralytics have you made walk and had the authority to forgive his sins? how many blind people have you made see? or demons have you cast out of people? Or deaf have you made hear? To you it may not be very "impressive" but to somebody like Helen Keller, how would it have been? Aside from that, Jesus wasn't trying to impress you or anybody. He had compassion, that's why he did it. At times it says that he heal the sick and he "healed their bruised lives."

There are a lot of criticisms I can raise about Gibson’s movie based only on the clips I have seen of the film from the physical characteristics of the people portrayed to the use of a cross. Some historians argue that Jesus was more likely nailed to a spike like wood structure. Averjoe, I can appreciate your opinions and your willingness to take the time to post them and if criticism is your thing, fine. Before you do, you only have seen clips--how about wait until you know what you are talking about? And yes I have heard and read of claims that it wasn't an acual cross but a tree he was crusified on, and it even uses those words once in the NKJ version. So big deal?

The Jewish leaders, acting on the behest of the Romans, had Jesus killed.

Jesus himself was a Jew.

There, I said it.

Mel Gibson's controversial new movie explores the last hours in the life of Jesus.
Now Dateline explores what happened 2,000 years ago.
Stoned Phillips travels to Jerusalem to piece together an ancient puzzle. What can we learn?
